Mediascope presented a study according to which 69% of Russians play various video games.
We are talking about a group of people aged 12 to 64 years, and 55% of them regularly play games. Most of the users prefer mobile projects (42%), in second place is PC (33%), while consoles are in third place (9%).
At the same time, 68% of Russians play on mobile devices at least once a month, while 40% enter such games daily. On average, gamers access about seven mobile apps per month.
Mobile gaming apps are the second most used in the corresponding top — they share it with video resources (15%), while social networking apps remain in the first position.
The most popular games among Russians were casual projects (35%), action games were in second place (18%), and strategies were in third place (11%). Simulations and role-playing games each have 9%. The largest projects in terms of reaching the Russian audience are Brawl Stars and Homescapes — they are played by 2-3% of mobile users.
However, the PC segment remains the leader in revenue among video games in Russia – in 2021 it accounted for more than 85 billion rubles. Mobile games took second place with 76.5 billion rubles. In total, in the same year, the video game market in the country grew by 9% to 177.4 billion rubles.
