Avast warned Russians about the virus in Windows 11

In the laboratory, Avast Threat Labs have discovered a program-miner CoinHelper, hiding in pirated versions of Windows 11. This was reported by the newspaper “Gazeta. Ru”.

This virus was found not only in the pirated OS, but also in the hacked Google Chrome, Microsoft Office , as well as in almost all licensed antivirus programs. According to Avast, the attackers managed to earn about 25 million rubles with it.

Experts noted that since the beginning of last year, they have managed to record over 220 thousand attempts to attack users. 38% of incidents occurred on users from  Russia. Experts recommend using only licensed products purchased from authorized distributors.
