Elden Ring and Xbox Top UK Sales Charts in March
Xbox and Elden Ring topped the UK console and game sales charts last March , according to GSD .
In total, more than 112 thousand consoles, almost 2.8 million copies of various games and more than 700 thousand accessories were sold in March. Console sales were up 21% compared to February 2022, but overall sales for the year fell 46% due to a lack of new Xbox and PlayStation in the market .
The Xbox Series lineup showed the largest sales growth in March compared to February – 61%. Nintendo Switch sales dropped by 21%, although it still took second place among the top consoles for March. At the same time, the platform leads in the field of games for the year. PS5 also took third place in the corresponding chart – sales increased by 45%.
In addition, controller sales jumped for Xbox, while DualSense for PS5 dropped from number one to number three.
Overall game sales rose only 0.6% compared to February. At the same time, 1.94 million of the 2.77 million copies were in the digital segment, which grew by 9.6% compared to the same period in 2021. The physical market accounted for 835 thousand copies, which is 15.5% lower than in 2021.
The first place in sales for two months is held by Elden Ring, showing success on Steam, Xbox Live and PSN . In second position is Gran Turismo 7 , and the game performed well on physical media – 45% of sales. At the same time, more than 73% of GT7 sales came from the PS5 version.
Third position was taken  by Grand Theft Auto V , whose sales figures grew by 45% compared to the same period in 2021. These successes were influenced by the release of the version for new consoles – the PS5 accounted for 37% of sales, while the Xbox Series took 28%.
WWE 2K22 climbed to number five, with the game selling 164% better in its first four weeks than the previous entry in the series in October 2019. 56% of sales came from PlayStation, 41% from Xbox, and the rest went to PC.
In sixth position was Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands , with 76% of its sales going digital, and the game performed equally well on both Xbox and PlayStation. Data on EGS, however, is not available.
