Studio A24 joined other Hollywood representatives who have suspended their activities in Russia.
A24’s latest release in the country so far has been the sci-fi film All Everywhere, starring Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). At the same time, the film showed the best start among A24 projects in the country – it already has 26.4 million rubles.
According to media reports, the Volga studio bought the full rights to the picture, thanks to which it ended up in cinemas – usually at the time of the conclusion of the contract, the copyright holders receive only 20% of the amount. If A24 had withdrawn the tape in this case, it would have had to pay a penalty.
But the studio’s next film, the horror Men (Men) by Alex Garland (Ex Machina), will not be released in Russian rentals in May – the reason is that the rights to the tape were not fully redeemed.
The slasher X , whose release was scheduled for March 17, did not appear in Russia either – however, the picture will be released digitally tomorrow, April 14.
