Apple continues to fight unscrupulous service centers. With the release of iOS 15.2, an item “History of spare parts and service” will appear in the iPhone settings, in which it will be possible to find out when and what spare parts were installed in the smartphone. In addition, the machine will display information if non-original components have been used.
The information displayed will depend on the specific model:
- iPhone XR, XS, XS Max and later, including the second generation iPhone SE, will show battery replacement
- iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 – battery and display replacement fact;
- iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 – the fact of replacing the battery, display and camera.
When repaired in an authorized service and using original parts, the section will display the inscription “Genuine Apple spare part”. If the component turns out to be fake or from another smartphone, then the warning “Unknown part” will appear.
The new section will be in Settings> General> About this device. Apple itself states that the parts statute will not affect the operation of the iPhon in any way.
