The Axios portal reported that Sony PlayStation has laid off about 90 employees in US offices, explaining this as some kind of “global transformation”.
According to sources, the corporation closed the team responsible for the sale of merchandise – some of them communicated with retail stores, offering to display PlayStation products on the shelves. Other employees dealt with marketing issues.
The “transformation” allegedly affects sales and business processes – perhaps we are talking about reducing the role of the “intermediary” between the company and its customers. It also suggests that Sony may be less focused on retailing games in the future.
So, in the description of some new marketing vacancies on the site, the need to sell subscription services is mentioned, which the company can focus on in potential. In addition, not so long ago, PlayStation introduced a new form of PS Plus with several types of subscriptions.
