The first scientific film laboratory in the Russian Federation will be taken up on the Skoltech platform. The project will be supported by the Ministry of Culture. The goal is to develop science pop and science cinema in Russia.
At the initial stage, it is planned to immerse novice directors in the context of sciences, to introduce them to the scientific environment. An interdisciplinary research and author community will begin to operate in the networking format. This will be followed by shooting 15 short films. They are planned to be shown in cinemas as part of a full-length almanac.
Everyone is invited to choose the most interesting topic for him and shoot a scientific film on it. Projects will be managed by Yulia Kiseleva, director and producer of pop science.
In addition, in the Laboratory, participants will read a series of lectures on production, rules and techniques of directing, distribution of scientific films. Experienced documentary filmmakers and scholars will be involved in the seminars.
