New features continue to come to Steam, the popular game library. Steam is now testing the QR login method to increase the security of users and to enable fast login.
According to the post made by Pavel Djundik, the founder of SteamDB, where we can see the most downloaded games of the week and access data about Steam every week on Steam, Steam is working on the login feature with a QR code.
Login With Qr Code Becomes Possible
Currently, the use of passwords in some applications and websites has been shelved. In the Discord application, which is well-known to the players, there has been a QR code login option for a long time.
In his Djundik post, he showed that with the release of the Steam Deck, the portable game computer that Valve will sell in a short time, the QR Code login feature will be added to the Steam login, and shared the screenshot of the login screen, which is currently in the development process. The QR Code login feature will be offered as an alternative to the two-step verification features currently used in Steam, such as email.
The code sequence, which we can see in the screenshot above, sheds light on the new feature. The phrase “Waiting for your approval through the Steam Mobile App…” on line 14 heralds this feature and shows how to use it.
It is surprising that Steam actually brought such a feature so late, but it is pleasing that such a feature is coming, no matter how late it is. We hope that this feature will be added to the Epic Games Store in the future.
