UK players are most likely to buy EA and Activision Blizzard games for Christmas
GFK has published statistics on the most popular games by sales in the week before Christmas. Details in our article…

Since 1984, EA and Activision Blizzard have spent 13 and 10 weeks at the top of the charts, respectively. The main credit for this belongs to the games of the FIFA and Call of Duty series .

The earliest FIFA game, International Soccer , topped the Christmas rankings in 1993. This year ( last week ), the next part of the series, FIFA 22 , is again in the lead .
Activision first hit the top with Ghostbusters in 1984. Then, in 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare brought the company’s leadership – since then, the franchise’s projects have repeatedly celebrated the holidays in the first place.

Note that since 1984, the list of Christmas bestsellers included Sega with Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (1992), Bethesda with The Elder Svrolls V: Skyrim ( 2011), Rockstar with Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) and Ubisoft with Assassin’s Creed. Valhalla , which topped the chart in 2020.
