CD Projekt RED has announced that work has begun on the next episode of the popular Witcher video game series . The corresponding announcement appeared in a blog on the official website of the project. It was accompanied by an image of the protagonist’s medallion and the caption “a new saga begins”.
Note that for the first time the intention of CD Projekt RED to return to the Witcher series was announced back in 2020. Work was expected to start after the release of ” Cyberpunk 2077 “, and this announcement was the first information about the new project.
The blog post also confirms that the upcoming sequel will not be built on RED’s own engine, which they have been using since The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings released in 2011. The creators of the series will move to Unreal Engine 5. “A multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games begins. It covers not only licensing, but also the further technical improvement of Unreal Engine 5, as well as the development of potential future versions of Unreal Engine, if required. We will work closely with Epic Games developers to help adapt the engine to the open world.”
A release date for the game has yet to be announced.
