CD Projekt Red has announced that it is working on an all-new Witcher game that will “open a new saga for the franchise and be the first new main game in the series since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released back in 2015.
The biggest news is that for the upcoming The Witcher game, CD Projekt Red will switch from its existing internal REDengine engine, which the company has been using for over a decade, to Unreal Engine 5 as part of a year of strategic partnership between CDPR and Epic Games. Despite this partnership, the next Witcher game will not be exclusive to Epic Games stores and CDPR will continue to use REDengine for some ongoing projects such as the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.
