Early last year, Activision handed over Vicarious Visions to Blizzard , which has been part of Activision since 2005. And in the fall of 2021, rumors appeared that a complete merger was being prepared and Vicarious Visions would completely lose its name.
As it turned out, these rumors were confirmed, although not completely. Vicarious Visions has announced that it has officially merged with Blizzard Entertainment. The development headquarters will remain in Albany, but the team will now work exclusively on Blizzard games. The new name of Blizzard Albany has not been confirmed, the team no longer has its own name.
Vicarious Visions was founded in 1990. As part of Activision, the studio has worked on a number of successful projects such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater , Guitar Hero , Spider-Man , Crash Bandicoot , Destiny , Skylanders , and Call of Duty . In collaboration with Blizzard, the team contributed to the release of Diablo II: Resurrected .
